Chanel Chance Body Cream

Chanel Chance Body Cream

Where I got them from

The other day I was at the Chanel Beauty Boutique in Britomart and Julia invited me to a mini makeover event where they were offering these Chanel Hair Clips as gifts for VIP clients. They only received 20 of them to give as a gift with purchase (minimum $200 purchase). The hair clips were part of the Coco Mademoiselle hair perfume repackaging promotion. The makeup campaign focused on the new face of Coco Mademoiselle Chanel, actress Whitney Peak. Her makeup was smoky with red lips and pink cheeks.

While I was there, the cafe next door offered me a hot cup of tea and showed me the upcoming Spring/Summer 2023 makeup collection. And it was! Large face and eye palettes, as well as red mascara and sheer red boomerang serum, as well as rose gold eyeliner and nail polish in two shades of red. This collection really intrigues me and I think the reds are soft and subtle. Not too bold and siren-like. It’s a warm red rather than a very formal cold red. Julia told me that I was the first person she had shown the collection to and offered to let me put away any of the products I wanted to buy. I have asked her to put away one of the palettes ($177), the Baume essentiel ($85) and a nail polish ($50).

Anyway, on this Chanel trip, I picked up their new Chance Body Cream ($167) as well as 818 Brun Noir’s Stylo Sourcils Waterproof (Defining Long-Wear Eyebrow Pencil) ($68) and Le Liner de Chanel (High-Precision Liquid Eyeliner) in Longwear) 512 Noir Profond ($72). I received skincare samples from the Sublimage line and some perfume samples.

What I got

This is Chanel Chance Body Cream (150 grams). This body lotion is scented with the floral notes of CHANCE perfume and comes in an elegant jar made of glass and aluminum. Its smooth, rich and refreshing formula soothes and moisturizes the skin and leaves a light scent. Pink pepper, jasmine and amber patchouli are interwoven into this moisturizing body cream. Floral, spicy, sensual and rich in that order, this is an unpredictable, elusive, ever-changing fragrance. Like chance.

How did I find it?

This is not a brand new product or limited edition, it is simply a repackaging of an existing product that will become a permanent Chanel product. I didn’t buy or use the original body creams so I can’t compare them, but the updated packaging looks very similar but with a more modern edge. Eau Tendre was also available at the time (Eau Fraiche has also been repackaged, but not yet available). Even though Eau Tendre smells good, it’s very mild and I can barely smell it after an hour of applying it to the back of my hand. I didn’t want to buy an expensive body cream that didn’t last, so I opted for the original Chance version.

The body cream is very thick and creamy on the skin. It smells just like Chance perfume, so if you like this perfume, this would be great for layering scents. I usually like to apply a little bit of the scented moisturizer to my torso and arms at night so I smell lovely but not too strong. During the day, even if I take off my jacket, the moisturizer and perfume stay on my skin underneath my clothes. When I spray perfume, I spray it on my clothes and it disappears relatively quickly.

Overall

I didn’t want to buy this deodorant before I went into the store, but when I smelled it on my skin I really liked it. I have a collection of scented body creams and lotions now and I should really slow down now. The body cream is really moisturizing so I don’t need to use a lot to cover my body. I like to apply it mostly to my arms and torso so I can smell it. It’s also not so strong that my kids or husband would find it overwhelming. That’s what I love about deodorant lotions, they smell great and aren’t too strong, so if you keep them in a little jar they’re great to take with you on your travels. You can reapply as many times as needed!
