Dior – Diorskin Forever Undercover Foundation

Diorskin Forever Undercover 24-Hour Full Coverage Fresh Lightweight Foundation ($64 CAD) is a new product from Dior. In the age of the serial selfie, this highly pigmented, water-based foundation combines maximum color control with natural-looking results for a filter-free, long-lasting finish that lasts up to 24 hours.

“The highly concentrated pigments are incorporated into a very fluid texture to ensure perfect correction of imperfections. What’s new for a product with such high coverage is that you can’t feel or see it. The finish is fresh and matte, so you don’t need to powder.” Peter Philips, Creative and Image Director at Dior Makeup, describes his thoughts on this new camouflage.

Diorskin Forever Undercover contains the highest level of pigmentation of any foundation in the entire collection – almost twice as much as the original foundation. To avoid a mask effect, the mineral pigments are given a very special coating that blends with the skin to provide an imperceptible effect.

I’ve been testing and using this foundation for a few days now and I’m very impressed with its coverage, shade match, longevity and texture. As you can see, the foundation comes in a sturdy plastic bottle with a dropper that makes it easy to take out the desired amount. Simply shake and open the bottle, pour it onto the back of your hand or drop it directly onto your face and start mixing. I first ventured to use it at a traditional Indian wedding and wanted to get full coverage that looked natural and bright and would stay on all day. And yes, it did the trick. I’ve used it a few times at work since then.

The formula is water-based and hence has a liquid consistency that glides on easily and blends into the skin. It blends well with your hands, but I prefer to use a brush for even coverage. Even a beauty blender provides good coverage. It feels light on the face, like I’m not wearing makeup, but you’ll notice the coverage is great. It didn’t emphasize my pores or problem areas. The finish is semi-matte, bright and natural. Another great thing is the dwell time, according to my test, it stays on very well for more than 12 hours. I didn’t notice any creasing or retouching during the day.

Diorskin Forever Undercover foundation is available in 26 colors, from lightest to darkest, which is a great thing. For my medium tan and gold undertones, my shade is either 040 or 041, depending on the weather. Mixing the two also works well on my skin tone.
